I turned my 2014 Kia Soul lease in back in Oct. 2016.

I then leased a 2016 Kia Forte. I received the lease end packet that included the ruler to measure tire tread, and it was above the acceptabke line. My dealer went over the car and his checklist showed everything was fine. Last week, and this is noiw May 2017, I got a collections noticeon behalf of Kia Finance, claiming I owe them $379.00.

Naturally, I was very upset. First of all, I never received a bill from Kia - all of a sudden a collection notice appears. I called them and asked what this charge was for. They told me all 4 tires were "worn" and had to be replaced at $90 each.

They claimed to have sent me a bill in February. From Oct to February to bill me? I called my dealer, and they requested the report. it showed pictures of tires having the tread measured.

How do I know they were even from my Soul? I'm capable of taking measurements and the tread was fine, otherwise I would have replaced the tires myself at a much cheaper cost.

Reason of review: Problems with payment.

Time to stop calling and start writing.

Everything you do from now on regarding this matter must be handled in writing.

Demand relief from this billing , citing the dealer's inspection results and the inordinate length of time passed between lease end and this BS bill. The old "anything could have happened between (return date) and (billing date)"

Include any other pertinent facts.

Do not become emotional but point out that you (loyal customer) leased another of their vehicles in good faith.

Send all of your mail via Certified Mail, Return Receipt Requested.

Good luck.

It worked for me 3 times although I had to involve an attorney to get Chrysler off my back after they botched a lease end. They lost a customer of 40 years.
